bright idea - button magnets

The other day while I was sitting at my desk supposed to be doing my schoolwork I thought of a plan. Not an evil plan to dominate the world or anything like that, but simply a blog post plan. My plan was that once an a while I would share a "bright idea" here on my blog - little fun, creative ideas that anyone can try. It may be an idea of my own or something I found on a website or magazine that I wanted to share with you all. And it can be any kind of idea - like a home-made gift, a room-decorating tip, something yummy to bake, or just something fun to do when you're bored.

So I decided to try it out. Tell me what you think :)

"cute as a button" magnets

Here's something I thought up the other day. You see, I had a long strip of magnet with double stick tape on it. What can I do with this? I wondered. And then it struck me. Buttons! Buttons are cute and colorful, so why not use them as fridge magnets?

What you need:

a strip of magnet (I believe it comes looking like this, and I'm sure you can buy it at any craft or DIY store)

double sided tape or hot glue gun

scissors

cute, colorful buttons

All you need to do is:

1. Cut small pieces off the magnet strip

2. Place the double sided tape or glue to the magnet piece and stick the button on.

Voila. That's it.  Very simple. But it turns out really cute. You can use them to hold up photos or notes on the fridge, use them to decorate your locker if you go to school, or whatever else you can think of :)

I hope you all are having a wonderful day :)

i have a pet tiger.

At least, I think I do. He's a lot smaller, and cuter, and nicer then an actual tiger.

But there's moments when he acts exactly like a real tiger in the wild. How many times have I seen him in this exact pose, with this exact look on his face? Many times.

|not my photo|

But then - quick as a blink - he's back to being my little kitty.

Prowling his own quiet backyard or asleep by the fire, he is still only a whisker away from the wilds. {Jean Burden}

i just saw tangled.

Eeeeeeeeeep!

I just got home from watching Tangled! It only came out here TODAY in Ireland. Terrible, huh? But it was certainly worth waiting for.

It was adorable. Really truly. It had such a sweet story!

It was also really funny. Hilarious. I could barely keep myself from bursting into a loud fit of laughter at times (but thankfully I didn't do that. Because it's really embarrassing to burst out laughing when the rest of the cinema is almost dead quiet. Talk about awkward. I can't wait to buy it on DVD so I can laugh my head off all I want.)

And the animation was so gorgeous. I usually prefer movies when it's all drawn, but I really didn't mind the computer animation in this one. In fact, I think it's way better that way. Oh, and Rapunzel's dresses were so pretty.

And Flynn was awesome. *smiles*

I wanna see this movie again so badly! I'd watch it right now if I could.

This is such a great movie. I think it's the best movie Disney has made in a long time. If you haven't seen it yet, then I think you should. Like, as soon as possible.

longing for spring

Don't get me wrong - I love winter. But I'm glad it's almost over. Of course, It won't technically be spring for a while, but pretty soon it will begin to look and feel like it. I can see it now... the grass will be the loveliest shade of green, the sky will be pale blue, flowers will be blooming everywhere you look, there will be adorable little lambs frolicking in the fields - I really need to stop thinking about spring. I'm torturing myself.

|these two pictures were taken in a garden shop in town|

It's been a long winter. We got more snow than usual and it's been very cold - even the lake froze! But the snow and ice have melted away. Now it's just cloudy, rainy, and windy. It's not unpleasant, but there isn't really anything particularly pleasant about it either.

I'm not quite sure how cold it's been out there these last few days. Because I've been inside. Firstly because of school. This first week of school went well, I rather enjoyed doing my Paces (that's what my schoolbooks are called) each day. But even yesterday (Saturday) when I had no school to do I was still stuck inside. Because I'm sick. So I'm stuck inside sneezing and coughing my weekend away. Fortunately that gives me plenty of time for blogging and book-reading, so I'm okay :)

Overall I've really loved this winter. But I think it's lasted long enough. I want spring!

finally some pictures

I haven't really been posting very many photos lately.

It's not that I haven't been taking any, though. Strange enough, it's because I've been taking SO many. Hundreds! I got a new camera (that I love), and I've been going nuts with it. I've taken so many pictures it's taken a long time to go through them all, edit the ones that need editing, and post them.

But finally I've finished all of that! Here's a few of them:

The view from my window when I woke up one morning.

The lake by our house froze. It was incredible!

More pictures to come soon :)

Have a wonderful day!
