“All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a Thousand Enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you, digger, listener, runner, prince with the swift warning. Be cunning and full of tricks and your people shall never be destroyed.”
I am currently reading Watership Down.
While reading about the journeys of the brave rabbits, sometimes I picture it happening in the fields that are just behind my house.
Inexplicably inspired by this, I took a break from school yesterday afternoon, put on my wellies and mittens, and went out into the fields to take some photographs.
I even spotted some rabbit holes.
love,
Hannah
I am having so much PANIC and FANGIRLING and I don't even KNOW WHAT TO SAY can I please come and live in Ireland oh my goodness. Gracious Providence, as Rachel Lynde would say.
ReplyDeleteHannah I am freaking out. <3 Watership Down. And your pictures...!!
I'm so sorry that this gave you a panic/fangirling attack. JUST KIDDING I'M NOT.
DeleteThanks, Olivia! :)
I've never read the book. I just looked up the summary, though, and it sounds really good! Is it like the Broadway show Cats, in a sense? That's kind of the vibe I'm getting off of this... :) I like the last one; it seems to kind of be taken as if it was through a rabbit's eyes.

Thanks for commenting, Morning! I'm not very familiar with Cats, so I can't say, but it is a very good book :)
DeleteThank you! Yes, that was *exactly* what the last two pics were supposed to be...rabbit's eye view. :)
I love your photos! I have to say that's one thing I miss when living in a city. There's no wide open space to roam without seeing concrete.
ReplyDeleteOh, thank you Ekaterina :)
DeleteI would miss that, too - but cities do have a charm of there own.
That's true, especially when you can walk to the library. :) How is Watership Down so far?
DeleteI really like the picture of the ivy on a stump!
ReplyDeleteWhy thank you!
DeleteAll my childhood dreams to be a pioneer/farmer just came tumbling back up again through this post. What a beautiful backyard!
ReplyDeleteAnd also, I've never read Watership Down. Would you reccommend it?
I haven't finished Watership Down yet, but if it continues to be as good as it's been so far, than I certainly recommend it. Thanks for commenting, Susanna!
DeleteOkay I must re-read Watership Down now!!! ...and move to Ireland. ;)
ReplyDeleteTwo very good things to do. :D
DeleteBeautiful pictures! I'd never read Watership Down.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kristin!
DeleteAhh Ireland looks so beautiful!!! Someday I'll make it there. =) Watership Down is on my "to-read" list. I used to watch the cartoon version with my brother and it kinda freaked me out, but I also loved it at the same time. =) Anyway, these are lovely pictures!! So beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYou should totally come to Ireland. BLOG BUDDY MEET-UP! And thanks so much, Emily.
DeleteGorgeous photos! The book has been on my to-read list for awhile...maybe it's finally time to give it a try!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Alex! You should, you might like it!
DeleteOkay, these pictures are killing it.
ReplyDeleteSO GORGEOUS.
THANKYOU.
DeleteThe green is so lovely! Everything around me is black, gray, and white.
ReplyDeleteI love the green, too. Aw, I hope you get some green soon!
DeleteYou live in a ridiculously beautiful place. Hang on. I'm getting my gumboots and I'm moving to wherever you are.
ReplyDeleteYes, COME MOVE HERE, CAIT. Well, actually, Australia sounds pretty nice, too. Maybe we should just swap places for a while? :)
DeleteHey there. Just found your blog. It's inexplicably amazing, just so you know.

I recently read Watership Down, and it was a wonderful book that has quickly become one of my favorites. I expected it to be about cute bunnies.....EXCEPT THAT THE RABBITS WERE ANYTHING BUT CUTE. However, I still really enjoyed it because it was filled with so many beautiful themes masked by adventure and suspense. I could totally imagine the fields behind your house as Watership Down. It's so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThese photos are beautiful! Love it :) Will definitely have to read Watership Down at some point :)
ReplyDeleteI saw the most beautiful copy of this book last year, a anniversary watercolour edition that was just about the most beautiful book I have ever seen. So nice. I determined to read the book as quickly as possibly, so I could buy the edition if I loved it enough. I still haven’t read it, though- BUT I WILL. Soon. It could totally be my birthday read (an idea I just now came up with and like immensely.)
ReplyDeleteThis is a really lovely post- I like to imagine, consciously and unconsciously, stories taking place in the areas around me, the lands I know… I live next to a big open field, so this will definitely be taking place there, when I get to it next month. Xx
