Camp Half-Blood Favorites // Fictional Feasts

"...my mom went out of her way to eat blue. She baked blue birthday cakes. She mixed blueberry smoothies. She bought blue-corn chip tortilla chips and brought home blue candy from the shop."
- The Lightning Thief

"She's funny that way, celebrating special occasions with blue food. I think it's her way of saying anything is possible. Percy can pass seventh grade. Waffles can be blue. Little miracles like that."
- The Sea of Monsters

"Meat!" [Grover] said scornfully. "I'm a vegetarian."
"You eat cheese enchiladas and aluminum cans," I reminded him.
"Those are vegetables."
- The Lightning Thief

I love the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, and so for this Fictional Feast I decided to make two of the characters' favorite foods. I made blue cupcakes in honor of Percy's obsession with blue food, and cheese enchiladas, which is Grover's favorite thing to eat. The enchiladas needed to be meat-less, because, being part-goat, Grover is a strict vegetarian.

The cupcakes and enchiladas were really yummy and easy to make. I used this fairy cakes recipe that Anna shared on my blog a long while ago. For the enchiladas, I pretty much did my own thing, but I based it off of this recipe.

I had fun making these - and my younger brother (now a converted Percy fan himself) enjoyed being the taste-tester.

P.S - this is a scheduled post. By the time you're reading it, I'll be on my holidays in England for the week! Talk to you when I get back!

  1. How lovely Hannah! I'm glad you continue to enjoy the recipe I shared, and am even more delighted to find they can be turned into blue cupcakes! Hehe, I'm reading 'The House of Hades' right now, as I never got the chance to read it sooner. I love everything Percy Jackson myself, and what could be better than treats in honour of the series? I hope you're enjoying yourself in England!

  2. This is such a cool idea! This post caught my eye because, of course, today is the release of Blood of Olympus!!!! I haven't read House of Hades yet, but I'm so excited. I love Percy Jackson and the Heroes of Olympus. They're so funny, and fast-paced, and Riordan does such a good job of making you anticipate the next book. :-)
