My Heart's in the Highlands

One of my favorite places in the whole world is Connemara, County Galway. It's beautiful there - so wild and mountainous. Everywhere you look there are gorgeous lakes and quaint little cottages. And sheep. Lots of sheep. Being there gives you a taste of Ireland as it used to be.

The photos I included were taken up on a mountain, which happens to be the very mountain that my grandma grew up on. (Her brother still lives there. The sheep in the last photo is his.)

What is one of your favorite places?

love,
Hannah

P.S. Let's pretend that the poem referenced in the title is about Ireland, not Scotland, okay? Thanks.

  5. Wow. Just, wow. These pictures are so beautiful they seem fairytale-ish! I would give an arm and a leg to visit Ireland... Hehe, yeah, I thought you had gone to visit Scotland when I saw the title, but then I saw the pictures and I thought it looked more like Ireland. (-: Ahhh, the lakes are so pretty!

  6. The landscape is so gorgeous. I would love to live there, even if there doesn't seem to be much around. It's the perfect place to relax, and definitely the picture perfect place to write and read. *sighs dreamily*

  7. Those pictures remind me a lot of folklore! :) I really want to go visit Europe; it's got such a vast culture and geographical/terrain differences, to say to visit one country is not the same as stating that one has seen the continent.

    xoxo Morning

  8. Beautiful! There is no other word to describe you pictures.
I haven't travelled much outside of Arizona, but the most beautiful places I've been are in San Diego and at a monastery in Safford, Arizona. I love San Diego because of the lush plants and of course the ocean. I love the monastery in Safford because of it is untamed desert, and I have seen the most beautiful sunrises and especially sunsets there, which take your breath away.

    1. Oh, the places you described sound so lovely. I've visited Arizona quite a bit (my aunt and uncle live there!), and I think it's absolutely beautiful.

  9. ISN'T IT CRAZY HOW BEAUTIFUL THE WORLD IS. Obviously, living in America, I don't see the rolling hills of Ireland (though I long to, and someday, I'm sure I will!!), but it blows my mind whenever I travel, be it to the Grand Canyon or the beaches or even just the prairies, or, when I went to Germany or Rome... this is a beautiful, beautiful world. ♥♥

  11. Oh wow, this is just beautiful. I love those wild places that you could call wilde, because they feel old and magical and really quite exquisite and mysterious. They breathe stories, those places. I love to see and be in them! xx

  12. *happy sigh* the highlands are beautiful <3
My happy place is the forest, or sometimes I'll just be sitting in my room and will just feel so content. I can be happy anywhere, really. :)
    Love this post!

  13. I've got Irish roots, so visiting Ireland has been a dream of mine for sometime now. Mean while I'm stuck in the United States :P However, it isn't all that bad. We've got hills and mountains. Those are my favorite kinds of places. Ones with hills and winding roads like Wisconsin. That state altogether has to be my favorite place of them all.
