A Mad Tea Party // Fictional Feasts

We're all mad here.

“Take some more tea," the March Hare said to Alice, very earnestly.
"I've had nothing yet," Alice replied in an offended tone, "so I can't take more."
"You mean you can't take less," said the Hatter: "it's very easy to take more than nothing."
"Nobody asked your opinion," said Alice.

`Yes, that's it,' said the Hatter with a sigh: `it's always tea-time, and we've no time to wash the things between whiles.'
`Then you keep moving round, I suppose?' said Alice.
`Exactly so,' said the Hatter: `as the things get used up.'
`But what happens when you come to the beginning again?' Alice ventured to ask.
`Suppose we change the subject,' the March Hare interrupted.

“The Queen of Hearts, she made some tarts,
    All on a summer day:
The Knave of Hearts, he stole those tarts
    And took them quite away!”

`Really, now you ask me,' said Alice, very much confused, `I don't think--'
`Then you shouldn't talk,' said the Hatter.

 The Menu:
Tea ("MORE TEA!")
Biscuits for dunking
Sandwiches ("It was the best butter.")
The Queen of Heart's Tarts (recipe)

The Decor:
My teacup collection
Teapots
 Alice books
A White Rabbit
Odds and Ends that seemed relevant
Amelia (she is pretending to be the Cheshire Cat. Or Dinah.)

I've always wanted to have a tea party like the one in Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. I mean, who wouldn't want to attend such a bizarre party?

I loved putting this fictional feast together. Caleb and I had fun searching the house for things to use as decorations. Making tarts was a new experience, and they turned out seriously delicious.

Let me tell you, I felt very Wonderland-y with my teacup full of tea, my fancy (and by that I mean that I cut the crusts off) sandwiches, and my strawberry tart.

Guys, you seriously need to throw a mad tea party. (Please invite me. I'll bring tarts.)

love,
Hannah

Alice in Wonderland is fantastic. I played the March Hare in a play and it was ever so much fun having our mad tea party. I would love to have one for real!

  8. Your tea party looks absolutely scrumptious and so Alice in Wonderland-like. Now why wasn't I invited? :) I've made jam tarts before and they are so delicious. I especially liked how you put hearts on top of the tarts.

  9. A mad tea party? Oh my goodness, this is too cute. I love Alice in Wonderland; I never had read the book until my dad got it for me when I turned ten, and I loved every bit of it.

  13. Splendid! I adore your idea for fictional feasts. I have actually had two Alice in Wonderland tea parties. One was planned with a friend while we were on summer vacation. We all dressed up in costumes, decorated her dining room with all sorts of whimiscal things, and baked delicious treats (even labeling them "eat me" and "drink me".) It was a splendid time. Another time I planned an"unbirthday party" for my younger siblings because they are awesome and deserve surprises.

I just saw the list of all the other fictional feasts you have done. I really want to try them all.
