Watership Down

“All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a Thousand Enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you, digger, listener, runner, prince with the swift warning. Be cunning and full of tricks and your people shall never be destroyed.”

I am currently reading Watership Down.

While reading about the journeys of the brave rabbits, sometimes I picture it happening in the fields that are just behind my house.

Inexplicably inspired by this, I took a break from school yesterday afternoon, put on my wellies and mittens, and went out into the fields to take some photographs.

I even spotted some rabbit holes.

love,
Hannah

  2. I've never read the book. I just looked up the summary, though, and it sounds really good! Is it like the Broadway show Cats, in a sense? That's kind of the vibe I'm getting off of this... :) I like the last one; it seems to kind of be taken as if it was through a rabbit's eyes.

    1. Thanks for commenting, Morning! I'm not very familiar with Cats, so I can't say, but it is a very good book :)

Thank you! Yes, that was *exactly* what the last two pics were supposed to be...rabbit's eye view. :)

  3. I love your photos! I have to say that's one thing I miss when living in a city. There's no wide open space to roam without seeing concrete.

I would miss that, too - but cities do have a charm of there own.

    1. I haven't finished Watership Down yet, but if it continues to be as good as it's been so far, than I certainly recommend it. Thanks for commenting, Susanna!

  8. Ahh Ireland looks so beautiful!!! Someday I'll make it there. =) Watership Down is on my "to-read" list. I used to watch the cartoon version with my brother and it kinda freaked me out, but I also loved it at the same time. =) Anyway, these are lovely pictures!! So beautiful!

  14. I recently read Watership Down, and it was a wonderful book that has quickly become one of my favorites. I expected it to be about cute bunnies.....EXCEPT THAT THE RABBITS WERE ANYTHING BUT CUTE. However, I still really enjoyed it because it was filled with so many beautiful themes masked by adventure and suspense. I could totally imagine the fields behind your house as Watership Down. It's so beautiful!

  16. I saw the most beautiful copy of this book last year, a anniversary watercolour edition that was just about the most beautiful book I have ever seen. So nice. I determined to read the book as quickly as possibly, so I could buy the edition if I loved it enough. I still haven’t read it, though- BUT I WILL. Soon. It could totally be my birthday read (an idea I just now came up with and like immensely.)
This is a really lovely post- I like to imagine, consciously and unconsciously, stories taking place in the areas around me, the lands I know… I live next to a big open field, so this will definitely be taking place there, when I get to it next month. Xx
